Can you believe it’s been a year since my first monthly writing theme? So much has changed since then; my story ideas have become fresher, I’ve become much better at graphics and I’ve gotten the hang of this blogging thing so much now that it basically writes itself! I’ve had so much fun coming up with creative writing ideas and I hope you or your students have enjoyed them as much as I have!
Inspiration for this month’s theme
August is a month of celebrations. There’s festivals, fireworks and, of course, the long awaited summer vacation (woot!) Some of you might have your birthdays in August or celebrate an anniversary with someone special. Whatever the event, there’s always something to celebrate in August and lots of writing ideas to go with it.
August Celebrations Writing Prompts

♦ At the annual summer festival you meet a Summer Spirit. He is excitable, fun and extremely handsome and you can’t help but fall for him. But his lifespan only lasts for as long as the three-day festival…
♦ “Sorry, but I can only be human for a year.”

♦ While looking through family photos, you find your grandparents anniversary album. But each year’s photo seems to show a completely different couple…
And there you are! Four writing prompts to celebrate the month of August. If you are inspired to write from any of these, please share your short stories in the comments or @tonimoth.
